Make 2011 a GREAT year!!!!!

“2011” IT’S ALWAYS A GOOD TIME TO CHANGE
The first step toward getting somewhere is to decide that you’re not going to stay where you are.

You’re a product of your environment. So choose an environment that will best develop you toward your goals.

Analyze your life in terms of your environment. Are the things around you helping you toward your success or are they holding you back?

Your world today is a living expression of how you are using and have used your mind. It’s something that you can change at any time.

You don’t have to remain a captive of your environment. Don’t say “If I could change, I would change,”
Say “I can change, and I will change.”We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish.

The profit motive by major companies seems to be out weighing the responsibility for our families health. 80-90% of cancers are environmental, very few are genetic! Basically, a chemical is innocent until proven guilty. Once again, wonderful to know that there are safer alternatives out there.

Interesting stuff….

According to the Environmental Working Group, the average person’s grooming routine brings them into contact with 126 different chemicals each day and the average child comes into contact with 67-90 yet the government doesn’t require pre-market safety testing before approving body care products. Nuts isn’t it?

We dimmed our lights for Earth Hour 2010…Did you?

Once again the “Moms going green” family very excitedly participated in Earth Hour 2010.   This global event saw 121 countries 34 more than in 2009 turn off their lights for the sake of the planet.  Isn’t this amazing?

Our 3rd annual gathering at our great friends “The Lordon’s” house was a blast! We were once again surrounded by kiddies and candlelight.  It’s such a great feeling knowing that we are shaping and helping our kids to be part of a larger vision.  Can’t wait until next year.

In the mean time, we will continue to do our part as a green family.  After all, our children will inherit the earth and the challenge of healing the damage that previous generations have caused.  It’s only a matter of making some lifestyle changes and changes in your buying habits.  Action is empowering!  Empower your children to become part of the solution!

There has been a call from the U.S./Canadian Commission to ban bleach in North America. Bleach is being linked to the rising rates of breast cancer in women, reproductive problems in men and learning and behavioral problems in children.
What are your thoughts on this?  Do you use bleach?  Here is more information on other dangers in household poisons.

This is one cool story!  I’m loving what’s coming from Sun Chips for Earth day 2010.  They plan to introduce the first fully compostable chip bag of it’s kind.  So you eat the chips, the earth eats the bag and we all live in a cleaner world!  What’s even cooler is that song that Sun Chips has chosen for their campaign is sung by an old friend and hockey teammate of my husband, Marc Robillard.

7 Habits for Happy Kids

We can always count on my M-I-L (AKA- Mimi) for choosing GREAT books for Cade & Cali.  If you’ve not already picked this one up you might want to.  “7 Habits for Happy Kids” was written by Sean Covey, son of author Stephen Covey (7 Habits of Highly Effective People).

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids introduces young readers to the popular Covey family “7 Habits” through an irresistible cast of characters and entertaining stories. From being proactive all the way to sharpening your saw, this kid-friendly book has a fully illustrated story to introduce each of the 7 Habits. Complete with a tip to parents from Sean himself, as well as discussion points and next steps at the end of each story, readers will follow the same adorable group of characters who live in 7 Oaks throughout all seven stories.  He also has a fantatic website that you should check out Seancovey.com.

Cade loves the kid section on his website.  Check it out here.

Pomme Bebe- Fresh Organic Baby Food
Well, I was just sitting here wondering what I was going to write about and I discovered this really cool site.  It’s called Pomme Bebe and it’s a line of organic baby & toddler food.  I must admit, I did make both my babies food but it would have been nice to have had a quick back up!  I love how they say ” Pomme Bebe cuisine is perishable-and that’s a good thing!”  Makes so much sense doesn’t it?The dishes are made fresh by a team of chefs, supervised by Executive Chef Laurent Brazier, in a kitchen in Newport Beach, CA. If you are local, you can place your order online and swing by to pick it up. They also offer mail orders, which are packed in ice and shipped out overnight. You keep them in your freezer until you’re ready to heat and serve! The menu includes choices for babies 6 - 12 months. It would be nice to have more finger food for toddlers, but with fresh, seasonal choices (the menu change every week) like chicken provencal, gluten-free brown rice mac and cheese, and veggie korma, you’ll be tempted to snack on them yourself! Every Pomme Bebe meal begins with the most nutritious organic ingredients and wholesome flavors.
No preservetives
No fillers
No artificial flavors or sweetners
No chemicals
No hormones or anitbiotics
No high heat processing that destroy vital nutrients, taste & color.
Each serving comes in a perfect portion size, in a BPA-free, microwave safe plastic container. Also, it’s easy to pop the serving out if you’re a mom who prefers to heat up baby food in a glass or ceramic container. Most importantly, babies love the flavors. It just goes to show, baby food can be tasty, creative and convenient!
